RULES
Last updated 23 October 2026
How Restaurant Versus competitions run, and how winners are decided. By nominating or voting, you agree to play by these rules.
HOW PLACES GET IN
While nominations are open, each device can nominate up to four places, once.
We review every nomination before the bracket is drawn. We may remove places that don’t fit the category, have closed, are duplicates or were nominated in bad faith.
The most-nominated approved places go into the bracket. If two places tie for the last spot, the one nominated first gets in. Places are then drawn into the bracket at random.
VOTING
Each device gets one vote per matchup. You can change your vote until the round closes.
Each round closes when its countdown reaches zero. Votes cast after that don’t count. Nominating and voting are never open at the same time.
We limit how many votes can come from one network, and we may remove votes we believe are automated or fraudulent.
HOW WINNERS ARE DECIDED
The place with more votes in a matchup goes through. If the votes are tied, the place with more nominations goes through. If that’s also tied, the winner is decided by random draw.
The last place standing is the champion and is added to Past Winners.
NO PRIZE
Restaurant Versus is free to enter and free to vote. There is no cash prize, and no restaurant pays or is paid to take part. Winning is public recognition only.
INDEPENDENT
Restaurant Versus is independent. We aren’t affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any restaurant listed, and we use restaurant names only to identify them. Results reflect public votes, not our opinion.
If you run a listed restaurant and would like it removed, email hello@restaurantversus.com.
IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG
We may pause, extend, rerun or end a competition if something goes wrong, for example a technical fault or large-scale cheating. If we do, we’ll explain why on the site.
