PRIVACY

Last updated 25 October 2026

Restaurant Versus is a free public vote. There are no accounts, no passwords and no adverts, and we never ask for your name, email address or age. This page explains the small amount of information the site does use.

WHAT WE STORE

Your nominations. The places you pick, so we can count them.

Your votes. Which side you choose in each match, so we can count them and let you change your pick until a round closes.

A random device code. Your browser creates a random code and keeps it in its local storage. We save it with your nominations and votes so the site can allow one vote per match per device. It isn’t linked to your name or email, and clearing your browser’s site data creates a new one.

Basic technical data. Like any website, the services that run this site receive your IP address and browser details when you visit. We use network information only to prevent abuse, such as automated or repeated voting. Our database briefly records the network address behind each vote and nomination for this purpose and clears these records out regularly, normally within a few days.

WHO HANDLES IT

The site is built and hosted with Framer, and votes and nominations are stored in a database provided by Supabase. The site’s font is loaded from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address when a page loads. These companies process data on our behalf under their own privacy policies. We don’t sell your data or use it for advertising.

WHY WE CAN USE IT

UK data protection law lets us use this information because we have a legitimate interest in running a fair public vote: counting nominations and votes, allowing one vote per match per device, and stopping cheating. We only use the minimum needed for that.

HOW LONG WE KEEP IT

We keep votes and nominations for as long as we need to run the competition and publish the results, then delete or anonymise them.

YOUR CHOICES

You can clear your device code at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser. To ask what we hold about your device code, or to have it deleted, email hello@restaurantversus.com.

If you’re unhappy with how we handle your information, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. We’d appreciate the chance to put it right first, so please email us before you do.

CHILDREN

Restaurant Versus isn’t aimed at children and doesn’t knowingly collect personal information from them.

CHANGES

If we add accounts, email updates or anything else that collects more information, we’ll update this page first.
